Ever wanted to know what dengue fever is? Or what about cholera or polio?  We often hear reports about the dreaded ebola virus. But then maybe you just want to find out what vaccinations you need for travelling to your chosen destination. Stop here for all the disease advice you can handle.

Diseases

Bird Flu. Avian Influenza is an infectious type of influenza; usually only affects birds
Chikungunya. Viral infection spread by infected mosquitoes
Cholera. A bacterial infection which causes severe diarrhoea
Dengue Fever. Mosquito-borne disease affecting est. 50 million people each year
Diphtheria. An acute infection affecting the upper respiratory system
Ebola. A  highly contagious virus which is very easily spread through body fluids
Hepatitis A. What is Hep A, who is at risk and how can it be prevented
Hepatitis B. This is the third most common infection in travellers
HIV. Once predominant in Africa, this virus is now a global problem
Japanese Encephalitis. This disease is spread by infected mosquitoes
Lassa Fever. A viral disease found in West Africa that is carried by rats
Malaria. Caught from the bite of an infected mosquito.  Read about Malarone
Measles. This viral disease is highly infectious and found all around the world
Polio. Polio is a disease that primarily affects the nervous system
Rabies. An acute viral infection that affects the central nervous system
SARS. Facts and advice on this new virus which spread around the globe in 2003
Schistosomiasis. Contracted through the skin from contaminated fresh water
Smallpox. This viral infection was declared eradicated in 1980
Swine Flu. The infectious H1N1 type of influenza usually only affects pigs
Tetanus. Tetanus spores are found all over the world, including the UK
Tick Borne Encephalitis. A viral disease spread via the bite of an infected tick
Tuberculosis. Most commonly affects the lungs. Read about the BCG vaccination
Tularaemia. A bacterial infection that is transferred from animals to humans
Typhoid. A bacterial infection of the digestive tract
Yellow Fever. A virus is spread by mosquitoes, found in Africa and South America
West Nile Virus. This virus spreads primarily by the bite of an infected mosquito
